Here’s a story of the Demon Heater standing the test of time – working as well as the day they were manufactured 30 years later!
I had a party a few weeks ago and it was typically bitter Toowoomba weather, however, someone arrived with 2 brand new Demon heaters he bought from you people about a week before. I didn’t think they were made any more because years ago I phoned around without success, but that was before the internet really got going! Last week I heard of 2 Demons under the loft floor of a local joinery works.
A phone call and payment of 2 cartons of beer for the pair later I was loading them onto the ute, covered in dust and dirt but surprisingly only a little surface rust here and there. The owner lamented how they served his workers well over the years and for some reason they were banished to the dungeon. The heaters still have the name Demon mentioned on the plates, so I’m wondering if the part numbers would be the same and how much they’ll cost?
….
I did my carpentry apprenticeship with a company who for a few years were based in a shed beside that joinery shop and I recall seeing those heaters inside the factory.
An apprentice of the joiners next door at the time has remained a friend of mine ever since. He was at the party the other week and it was him who put me onto the location of the old heaters after seeing those new ones in action.
It’s a strange feeling when 20 years later he is now part owner with his old boss of the joinery shop, I became full owner of the building company and for the sale price of 2 cartons of beer I end up owning their old workshop heaters.
They both have the economy damper, which one would think would have been long gone in the mess under the loft, but for some odd reason the stand and
tray is missing off one of them.
